We are celebrating TWO post-Christmas feasts with this bulletin (2 in one), and both of them are feasts worth considering in our own families. Today’s, Dec. 27 is the Feast of the Holy Family. As we know, the family is where our Christian values are first taught AND CAUGHT. Our children learn about differences between right and wrong long before they go to school, and parents are the first teachers that they encounter. What an awesome responsibility for you who are parents. W

We use a word in our theology that is a special term to describe the awesome mystery that we are about to celebrate again on Christmas. The word is INCARNATION. It refers to GOD BECOMING HUMAN. (God takes on flesh). Our almighty, loving God became like us in every way but sin. The Gospel today tells us that Jesus is the Son of God, when God invited Mary to be the Mother of Jesus. And please notice that God invites her to this honor. She responds: “YES! I will do what you ask

Most of us at one time or the other have followed a recipe for cooking, or instructions to put something together (esp. after we tried WITHOUT reading the directions!!!), or simply doing what was required to accomplish a task. Today marks the half-way point of Advent, and we are encouraged to BE JOYFUL about the coming feast, not anxious and bothered. But we can often object, and offer excuses for not being joyful. There is too much to do, we are too occupied about “things”,
