Greetings From Sr. Marlita/ Saludos desde Sr. Marlita
In Pope Francis’s latest exhortation on holiness, he reflects on the eight beatitudes and invites us as followers of Jesus to put into practice what they mean in today’s world. They are our Gospel message today. Let us look at a few of them in order to better live them.
Blessed are the poor in spirit…He calls us to share in the life of those most in need and ultimately to form ourselves to Jesus who made himself poor by becoming human.
Blessed are those who hunger for justice… Justice comes about when we are just in our decisions and when we pursue justice for the poor, weak and vulnerable.
Blessed are those who weep…How often we run from painful situations or cover them up or hide them. We are asked to discover meaning in suffering and feel compassion for others.
Blessed are the peacemakers…There is so much war and violence in our lives. We need to be at peace and offer friendship to all others.
Blessed are those who are persecuted…Often those who try to do good are looked down on, made fun of, ridiculed. Jesus assures us that one day the kingdom of God will be ours.
Pope Francis concludes: “The Beatitudes are in no way trite or undemanding, quite the opposite. We can only practice them if the Holy Spirit fills us with his power and frees us from our weakness, our selfishness, our complacency and our pride.” Come, Holy Spirit, COME!

En la última exhortación del Papa Francisco sobre la santidad, reflexiona sobre las ocho bienaventuranzas y nos invita como seguidores de Jesús a poner en práctica lo que significan en el mundo de hoy. Son nuestro mensaje del evangelio de hoy. Veamos algunos de ellos para poder vivirlos mejor.
Bienaventurados los pobres de espíritu ... Él nos llama a compartir la vida de quienes más lo necesitan y, en última instancia, a formarnos con Jesús, que se hizo pobre al volverse humano.
Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre de justicia ... La justicia se produce cuando estamos en nuestras decisiones y cuando buscamos justicia para los pobres, los débiles y los vulnerables.
Bienaventurados los que lloran ... ¿Con qué frecuencia nos escapamos de situaciones dolorosas o las cubrimos u ocultamos? Se nos pide que descubramos el significado del sufrimiento y que sintamos compasión por los demás.
Bienaventurados los pacificadores ... Hay tanta guerra y violencia en nuestras vidas. Necesitamos estar en paz y ofrecer amistad a todos los demás.
Bienaventurados los perseguidos ... A menudo, los que tratan de hacer el bien son despreciados, ridiculizados. Jesús nos asegura que un día el reino de Dios será nuestro.
El Papa Francisco concluye: “Las bienaventuranzas no son de ninguna manera trilladas o poco exigentes, sino todo lo contrario. Solo podemos practicarlos si el Espíritu Santo nos llena con su poder y nos libera de nuestra debilidad, nuestro egoísmo, nuestra complacencia y nuestro orgullo ”. ¡Ven, Espíritu Santo, VEN!
