Here we are at the end of the Lenten season, ready to remember a very special week in the life of Jesus. Beginning with today, Palm Sunday, and continuing with each of the special services for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and EASTER, we again celebrate the Pascal Mystery of life, death and the victory of the Resurrection. It is our privilege.

Some of these days are festive and jubilant, like Palm Sunday, recalling the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, or the Last Supper of Jesus with his dear friends. But others are quiet and solemn, calling for us to be silent and reflect on the great love God has for us by giving his only Son on Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

To remember is to bring back to the heart. That means to bring it back to life, to relive the acts of salvation, of God’s love for his people, for US! So this Holy Week is a time to recall that Jesus’ acts of love are acts of service, as in sharing a meal, and washing the apostles feet, carrying the cross (the burden of our sins), and giving His very life for us.

I wonder how many of us are ready to surrender in service as Jesus did. Can we give our own life in service to others, without thinking of our own selves first? Let us pray for one another this week that we might think of ways to truly be persons of service. Then when Easter Sunday arrives, we can jubilantly be ALLELUIA persons, giving life to those whose lives we daily touch.

Aquí estamos al final de la temporada de Cuaresma, listos para recordar una semana muy especial en la vida de Jesús. A partir de hoy, Domingo de Ramos, y continuando con cada uno de los servicios especiales para el Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo, Sábado Santo y PASCUA, nuevamente celebramos el Misterio Pascal de la vida, la muerte y la victoria de la Resurrección. Es nuestro privilegio.

Algunos de estos días son festivos y jubilosos, como el Domingo de Ramos, que recuerdan la entrada triunfal de Jesús en Jerusalén o la Última Cena de Jesús con sus queridos amigos. Pero otros son callados y solemnes, pidiéndonos que guardemos silencio y reflexionemos sobre el gran amor que Dios tiene para nosotros al dar a su único Hijo el Viernes Santo y el Sábado Santo.

Recordar es traer de vuelta al corazón. ¡Eso significa traerlo de vuelta a la vida, revivir los actos de salvación, del amor de Dios por su pueblo, por los Estados Unidos! Entonces, esta Semana Santa es un momento para recordar que los actos de amor de Jesús son actos de servicio, como compartir una comida, lavar los pies de los apóstoles, cargar la cruz (la carga de nuestros pecados) y dar su vida por nosotros.

Me pregunto cuántos de nosotros estamos listos para rendirnos en el servicio como lo hizo Jesús. ¿Podemos dar nuestra propia vida al servicio de los demás, sin pensar primero en nosotros mismos? Oremos los unos por los otros esta semana para que podamos pensar en maneras de ser verdaderamente personas de servicio. Luego, cuando llega el domingo de Pascua, podemos ser jubilosamente personas de ALELIA, dando vida a aquellos cuyas vidas tocamos diariamente.
