Knowing that Jesus thought about us, kept us in his mind, and prayed for us is important and significant. What Jesus asked his Father in prayer was basically one thing: UNITY. Jesus forged in this way, a sacrament based on relationships. Just as Jesus and the Father are one, we must also be one with each other, in such a way that by the witness of our unity, we can show the world what God’s love is.
His desire for unity offers us the opportunity to be visible and tangible witnesses in the world; to show others that the love of God is real, committed, unconditional, permanent, and sacrificed, without concern for how much we may have sinned. His prayer for those who will believe in his message through his disciples perfectly illustrates the vision of transferring the Good News to the next generation.
Christ prays for the Church’s unity, that our witness in the world be effective; that the world sees the transforming power of the Gospel in our lives; that we can, with one voice, tell everyone: “Come to the Lord, drink from the waters of eternal life.”
When the world sees our unity in the Spirit, especially when we may disagree with one another on various things, that unity will be testimony that Christ is in us. Our unity will show that the words and mission of the Lord are true, and that both come from the Father, OUR Father. Let us try to be witnesses of UNITY in our communities, reflecting and showing God’s love for each of us.

Saber que Jesús pensó en nosotros, nos mantuvo en su mente y oró por nosotros es importante y significativo. Lo que Jesús le pidió a su Padre en oración era básicamente una cosa: UNIDAD. Jesús forjó de esta manera, un sacramento basado en las relaciones. Así como Jesús y el Padre son uno, también debemos ser uno con el otro, de tal manera que, mediante el testimonio de nuestra unidad, podamos mostrar al mundo lo que es el amor de Dios.
Su deseo de unidad nos ofrece la oportunidad de ser testigos visibles y tangibles en el mundo; para mostrar a los demás que el amor de Dios es real, comprometido, incondicional, permanente y sacrificado, sin preocuparse de cuánto hayamos pecado. Su oración por aquellos que creerán en su mensaje a través de sus discípulos ilustra perfectamente la visión de transferir la Buena Nueva a la próxima generación.
Cristo ora por la unidad de la Iglesia, para que nuestro testimonio en el mundo sea efectivo; que el mundo ve el poder transformador del Evangelio en nuestras vidas; que podemos, con una sola voz, decirles a todos: "Vengan al Señor, beban de las aguas de la vida eterna".
Cuando el mundo ve nuestra unidad en el Espíritu, especialmente cuando podemos estar en desacuerdo entre nosotros en varias cosas, esa unidad será un testimonio de que Cristo está en nosotros. Nuestra unidad mostrará que las palabras y la misión del Señor son verdaderas, y que ambas provienen del Padre, NUESTRO Padre. Tratemos de ser testigos de la UNIDAD en nuestras comunidades, reflejando y mostrando el amor de Dios por cada uno de nosotros.
