In today’s gospel, Jesus tells the story of the dishonest steward who seeks to use all the resources within his reach to secure his future here on earth. The reality is that sooner or later this earthly life comes to an end, and we do not know how much time we have. We must, therefore, be more concerned than anything else with being rich in heaven.
Jesus contrasts the wealth of this world with the true wealth of heaven that only God can give. He expects believers to be responsible with their use of money and the other goods He has given us on earth. We may think that we own our possessions; but everything we have is on loan from God. We are STEWARDS of what He has placed in our care. When we die, we will not take anything with us; but God will reward those who place their trust in Him. The people for whom money is the important thing make wealth their god; money becomes their master. Even if they claim to have God in their hearts, they will not be able to serve God and money equally.
Jesus recommends us to share with others. Sharing opens up the doors to a better life, both here and in the afterlife. In the end, those dedicated exclusively to caring for their own and forget others convert money into an idol, into another god they serve with passion; but they are wrong because there is only one God. Let us pray that we can always value what really matters, eternal life, and work toward it in our daily living.

En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús cuenta la historia del mayordomo deshonesto que busca usar todos los recursos a su alcance para asegurar su futuro aquí en la tierra. La realidad es que tarde o temprano esta vida terrenal llega a su fin, y no sabemos cuánto tiempo tenemos. Por lo tanto, debemos estar más preocupados que cualquier otra cosa por ser ricos en el cielo.
Jesús contrasta la riqueza de este mundo con la verdadera riqueza del cielo que solo Dios puede dar. Él espera que los creyentes sean responsables con su uso del dinero y los otros bienes que nos ha dado en la tierra. Podemos pensar que somos dueños de nuestras posesiones; pero todo lo que tenemos es prestado de Dios. Somos ESTATUTOS de lo que Él ha puesto a nuestro cuidado. Cuando muramos, no llevaremos nada con nosotros; pero Dios recompensará a quienes depositen su confianza en él. Las personas para quienes el dinero es lo importante hacen de la riqueza su dios; El dinero se convierte en su amo. Incluso si afirman tener a Dios en sus esfuerzos, no podrán servir a Dios y al dinero por igual.
Jesús nos recomienda compartir con otros. Compartir abre las puertas a una vida mejor, tanto aquí como en el más allá. Al final, aquellos dedicados exclusivamente a cuidar de los suyos y olvidar a los demás, convierten el dinero en un ídolo, en otro dios al que sirven con pasión; pero están equivocados porque solo hay un Dios. Oremos para que siempre podamos valorar lo que realmente importa, la vida eterna, y trabajar para lograrlo en nuestra vida diaria.
