The Lenten season invites us to reconsider how we are living our Christian life. One of the themes of today’s readings is TRUST. We hear today about two journeys. In the first reading God commands Abram to set out on a journey to a “land that I will show you.” Trusting in God, Abram leaves behind his homeland, his friends, and many of his family as well. Then the Transfiguration of the Gospel occurs in the context of Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, the place of his suffering and death.
We, too, are on our journey of life. In the 2nd reading of Timothy we hear that we are “called to a holy life.” Holiness requires that we commit ourselves to conversion, or change, when we see we are not measuring up to being a true disciple of Jesus. As well as trusting in the Lord, we are constantly called to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. The Spirit often prompts us to follow His impulses and reexamine how we are acting and what we are saying in our interactions with others. And when it is necessary, we may be called to be more faithful to the Word of God.
During this second week of Lent, let us remember Abram, who left everything he knew. Are we able to trust in the Lord enough to put aside worry for a day? How do others know that we do possess faith and do trust in God’s word? Can we seek forgiveness for the times we may have failed in this area? Do we have the courage to allow God to change us?

La temporada de Cuaresma nos invita a reconsiderar cómo estamos viviendo nuestra vida cristiana. Uno de los temas de las lecturas de hoy es la CONFIANZA. Hoy escuchamos sobre dos viajes. En la primera lectura, Dios le ordena a Abram que emprenda un viaje a una "tierra que te mostraré". Confiando en Dios, Abram deja atrás su patria, sus amigos y muchos de su familia también. Entonces la Transfiguración del Evangelio ocurre en el contexto del viaje de Jesús a Jerusalén, el lugar de su sufrimiento y muerte.
Nosotros también estamos en nuestro viaje de la vida. En la segunda lectura de Timoteo, escuchamos que estamos "llamados a una vida santa". La santidad requiere que nos comprometamos a la conversión, o al cambio, cuando vemos que no estamos a la altura de ser un verdadero discípulo de Jesús. Además de confiar en el Señor, estamos constantemente llamados a estar abiertos a la obra del Espíritu Santo en nuestra vida diaria. El Espíritu a menudo nos impulsa a seguir Sus impulsos y reexaminar cómo estamos actuando y lo que estamos diciendo en nuestras interacciones con los demás. Y cuando sea necesario, podemos ser llamados a ser más fieles a la Palabra de Dios.
Durante esta segunda semana de Cuaresma, recordemos a Abram, quien dejó todo lo que sabía. ¿Podemos confiar en el Señor lo suficiente como para dejar de lado la preocupación por un día? ¿Cómo saben los demás que poseemos fe y confiamos en la palabra de Dios? ¿Podemos buscar el perdón por los tiempos en que hemos fallado en esta área? ¿Tenemos el coraje de permitir que Dios nos cambie?
