Happy Independence Day weekend to each of you. No matter if you are planning special family activities away from home or preferring to stay home, may we pray together for UNITY in our nation, and a fresh spirit of EQUALITY for ALL. As I shared in a website reflection a few weeks ago, I feel we all need to examine ourselves to see how what we may think and feel about other cultures in our nation,and strive harder to truly treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect, no matter who they are.
There are times when, often unconsciously, we may fail to respect each individual as unique and lovingly created by God. But we are reminded often (by you- know -who!) that the most important truth we can live is believing that God is deeply in love with us. The point is the “US “ is EVERYONE OF US. Yes, we are imperfect, and yes, we are sinners, but God does not love us because we are good or always doing the right thing. His love is unconditional, and never fails. We are invited to imitate that love in all the ways we can, and to love ALL others without any conditions. It is a challenge, and it will not happen without thought and will. We are invited to make the choice to LOVE.
In the Gospel today, Jesus reminds us: “ Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened…learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.” We have a perfect teacher who will always be patient and forgiving with us. Let us pray this week that we give the gift of FREEDOM to ALL who dwell in our land. Enjoy!

Feliz fin de semana del Día de la Independencia para cada uno de ustedes. No importa si está planeando actividades familiares especiales fuera de casa o si prefiere quedarse en casa, oremos juntos por la UNIDAD en nuestra nación y un espíritu fresco de IGUALDAD para TODOS. Como compartí en un sitio web de reflexión hace unas semanas, siento que todos debemos examinarnos a nosotros mismos para ver cómo podemos pensar y sentir acerca de otras culturas en nuestra nación, y esforzarnos por tratar verdaderamente a TODOS con dignidad y respeto, sin importar Quienes son.
Hay momentos en que, a menudo inconscientemente, podemos fallar en respetar a cada individuo como único y amorosamente creado por Dios. Pero a menudo se nos recuerda (¡ustedes saben quién!) Que la verdad más importante que podemos vivir es creer que Dios está profundamente enamorado de nosotros. El punto es que los "EE. UU." Son TODOS DE NOSOTROS. Sí, somos imperfectos, y sí, somos pecadores, pero Dios no nos ama porque somos buenos o siempre estamos haciendo lo correcto. Su amor es incondicional y nunca falla. Estamos invitados a imitar ese amor de todas las maneras que podamos, y amar a TODOS los demás sin ninguna condición. Es un desafío, y no sucederá sin pensamiento y voluntad. Estamos invitados a tomar la decisión de AMAR.
En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos recuerda: "Vengan a mí, todos ustedes que trabajan y están agobiados ... aprendan de mí, porque soy manso y humilde de corazón". Tenemos un maestro perfecto que siempre será paciente y perdonador con nosotros. Oremos esta semana para que demos el regalo de la LIBERTAD a TODOS los que moran en nuestra tierra. ¡Disfruta!
