This week the Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday. I invite you to reconsider the WHY you may try to get to Mass/service that day to receive ashes on your forehead. Maybe it has just been habit. The cross of ashes is a reminder that at the center of Lent stands the cross. Meditating on the meaning of the Crucifixion means examining our own sinfulness and praying for the grace and courage to change our ways and walk more closely with Jesus. Throughout Lent we are called to deepen our prayer life. We are providing several more options this year for praying the Stations of the Cross together. This is one Lenten devotion that may help us to be more grateful for the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and to try to rid ourselves of the selfishness in our actions.

We are all “DISCIPLES ON THE WAY”, aren’t we? I doubt that any of us think we have arrived at the top of our life’s goals and ambitions yet. Our diocese has been reminding us that, indeed, we are “IN PROCESS” with our faith life, and we have been walking for a few years now with that theme of being “Disciples on the Way”.

Bishop Ricken has outlined and encouraged a process to move forward on that way, gently and gradually as the Holy Spirit moves our hearts. We are invited to DISCOVER Jesus, FOLLOW Jesus, WORSHIP Jesus, and SHARE Jesus in our daily Christian lives. Not all of us are at the same place, because each of us is unique and different. But hopefully we are entering into this faith journey in varied different ways. We recognize that we need one another to advance; we can’t go it alone.

Some might choose the ALPHA program, others a Bible study group. Some may join a prayer group to pray for one another’s needs, and still others might volunteer for one of the ministries at Saturday/Sunday Mass. Some might be a member of one of our parish committees, sharing their ideas, and others listen and participate in an adult education class. The list is endless. I wonder where YOU see yourself ON THE WAY?

Lent is beginning this Wednesday, March 6. Why not look over the bulletin to see if there are some ways you might be more involved or could participate? And if nothing strikes you as something for you, check with me about looking for other alternatives. We can be creative and help to energize our faith life when we become involved and active. Be brave; step forward, and you will find many “HOLY MOMENTS” to enjoy.

Esta semana la temporada de Cuaresma comienza con el Miércoles de Ceniza. Lo invito a que reconsidere el POR QUÉ puede intentar ir a Misa / servicio ese día para recibir cenizas en la frente. Tal vez solo haya sido un hábito. La cruz de las cenizas es un recordatorio de que en el centro de la Cuaresma se encuentra la cruz. Meditar sobre el significado de la Crucifixión significa examinar nuestro propio pecado y orar por la gracia y el valor para cambiar nuestros caminos y caminar más cerca de Jesús. A lo largo de la Cuaresma estamos llamados a profundizar nuestra vida de oración. Estamos ofreciendo varias opciones más este año para rezar las Estaciones de la Cruz juntos. Esta es una devoción de Cuaresma que puede ayudarnos a estar más agradecidos por el sacrificio que Jesús hizo por nosotros y tratar de deshacernos del egoísmo en nuestras acciones.

Todos somos "DISCÍPULOS EN EL CAMINO", ¿verdad? Dudo que alguno de nosotros creamos que hemos llegado a la cima de los objetivos y ambiciones de nuestra vida todavía. Nuestra diócesis nos ha estado recordando que, de hecho, estamos "EN PROCESO" con nuestra vida de fe, y hemos estado caminando durante algunos años con el tema de ser "Discípulos en el Camino".

El Obispo Ricken ha descrito y alentado un proceso para avanzar de esa manera, suave y gradualmente a medida que el Espíritu Santo mueve nuestros corazones. Estamos invitados a DESCUBRIR a Jesús, SEGUIR a Jesús, ADORAR a Jesús y COMPARTIR a Jesús en nuestra vida cristiana diaria. No todos estamos en el mismo lugar, porque cada uno de nosotros es único y diferente. Pero con suerte estamos entrando en este viaje de fe de varias maneras diferentes. Reconocemos que nos necesitamos unos a otros para avanzar; no podemos ir solos

Algunos pueden elegir el programa ALPHA, otros un grupo de estudio bíblico. Algunos pueden unirse a un grupo de oración para orar por las necesidades de los demás, y otros pueden ofrecerse como voluntarios para uno de los ministerios en la misa de sábado y domingo. Algunos pueden ser miembros de uno de nuestros comités parroquiales, compartir sus ideas y otros escuchar y participar en una clase de educación para adultos. La lista es interminable. Me pregunto; ¿En qué camino te vez?

La Cuaresma comienza este miércoles, 6 de marzo. ¿Por qué no revisas el boletín para ver si hay algunas formas en las que podría estar más involucrado o podría participar? Y si nada le sorprende como algo para usted, consulte conmigo para buscar otras alternativas. Podemos ser creativos y ayudar a energizar nuestra vida de fe cuando nos involucramos y activamos. Sé valiente; Da un paso adelante y encontrarás muchos “MOMENTOS SANOS” para disfrutar.
