Advent calls us to PREPARE. What are we preparing, and what are we preparing for? We are preparing our own hearts, so that during this season and into the Christmas season we can bring more love into this world, just as the birth of Jesus did. Jesus came to this earth to teach us how to love by being loving, and by sharing his love with every intention and action he did. We have been given that love at our own birth. It is our call to help it grow and bring forth fruit. So we are readying our hearts to love more.
In the first reading today we are told that the desert will bloom, but it is not said that this will happen overnight and without anyone doing anything. Blooming needs water and/or nourishment. We are told we need to wait patiently, and seek signs of life and hope given to all of us through patience to support difficulties calmly and peacefully, and the wait of Jesus who will come, not as a great sign, but rather as a proclamation of hope, light, comfort, and healing for the poor and for those who suffer.
The sign of the coming of the Kingdom according to Matthew today is that the poor hear the Good News preached to them. Isn’t that what Jesus’s coming was all about? Don’t we hear it in each Sunday’s gospel message? During Advent we are invited to make it come truer by reaching out to those in need. Let’s do it concretely this season…be GOOD NEWS.

El adviento nos llama a PREPARARNOS. ¿Qué estamos preparando y para qué nos estamos preparando? Estamos preparando nuestros propios corazones, para que durante esta temporada y en la temporada de Navidad podamos traer más amor a este mundo, tal como lo hizo el nacimiento de Jesús. Jesús vino a esta tierra para enseñarnos cómo amar siendo amoroso y compartiendo su amor con cada intención y acción que hizo. Se nos ha dado ese amor en nuestro propio nacimiento. Es nuestro llamado ayudarlo a crecer y dar fruto. Entonces estamos preparando nuestros corazones para amar más.
En la primera lectura de hoy se nos dice que el desierto florecerá, pero no se dice que esto sucederá de la noche a la mañana y sin que nadie haga nada. La floración necesita agua y / o alimento. Se nos dice que debemos esperar con paciencia y buscar signos de vida y esperanza que se nos den a todos a través de la paciencia para soportar las dificultades con calma y paz, y la espera de Jesús que vendá, no como una gran señal, sino como una proclamación de esperanza, luz, consuelo y curación para los pobres y para los que sufren.
La señal de la venida del Reino según Mateo hoy es que los pobres escuchan la Buena Nueva que se les predicó. ¿No es de eso de lo que se verá afectada la venida de Jesús? ¿No lo escuchamos en el mensaje del evangelio de cada domingo? Durante el Adviento, estamos invitados a llegar a los necesitados mas verdaderamente. Hagámoslo concretamente esta temporada ... seamos portadores de BUENAS NOTICIAS.
