Gretings From Sister Marlita/ Saludos de Sister Marlita
Jon Leonetti, at our recent TriParish Mission in October, reminded us all that it is a privilege to belong to God’s family, and it is also a responsibility. We are held to higher standards, to God’s standards. None of us is perfect, nor should we expect others to be perfect, but we are all on the journey together to become the sort of people we never knew we could be. God gives us a place to belong permanently, and we are invited to be a part of a community through our membership in a particular church family. A family comes together regularly to share life, to lend support to one another, and to grow in love.
Do you recall last week’s message…putting something into Mass in order to get something out of it? The Sacrifice of the Mass is a celebration of God’s love. It is the remembering of Jesus’ gift to us in the Eucharist. We come to be nourished with the Word of God and with Jesus’ own body and blood. We come to pray, to sing, to listen, and to interact with our God. We do get out of the Mass what we put into it.
There is still time for resolutions for the New Year. Let us resolve: (1) to put more of ourselves into this special time when God lovingly reaches out to us; (2) to overlook the crying baby in the pew next to us or the person who may sing off-key behind us (they are singing!) (3) to join with friends and family and truly be present; (4) to hear what is being said so that we can actively participate in the prayers offered; and (5) to receive Jesus in order to share Him later. May we also invite someone along next Sunday!

Jon Leonetti, en nuestra reciente Misión TriParroquial en octubre, nos recordó a todos que es un privilegio pertenecer a la familia de Dios, y también es una responsabilidad. Estamos sujetos a estándares más altos, a los estándares de Dios. Ninguno de nosotros es perfecto, ni debemos esperar que otros sean perfectos, pero todos estamos en el viaje juntos para convertirnos en el tipo de personas que nunca supimos que podríamos ser. Dios nos da un lugar para pertenecer permanentemente, y estamos invitados a ser parte de una comunidad a través de nuestra membresía en una familia de iglesia en particular. Una familia se une regularmente para compartir la vida, para apoyarse mutuamente y para crecer en el amor.
¿Recuerdas el mensaje de la semana pasada ... poner algo en misa para sacar algo de él? El sacrificio de la misa es una celebración del amor de Dios. Es recordar el regalo de Jesús para nosotros en la Eucaristía. Llegamos a nutrirnos con la Palabra de Dios y con el cuerpo y la sangre de Jesús. Venimos a orar, cantar, escuchar e interactuar con nuestro Dios. Nosotros sacamos de la Misa lo que ponemos en ella.
Todavía hay tiempo para resoluciones para el Año Nuevo. Resolvamos: 1) poner más de nosotros mismos en este tiempo especial cuando Dios nos alcanza amorosamente; 2) pasar por alto al bebé que llora en el banco junto a nosotros o la persona que puede cantar fuera de tono detrás de nosotros (¡están cantando!) 3) unirse a amigos y familiares y estar verdaderamente presente; 4) escuchar lo que se dice para que podamos participar activamente en las oraciones ofrecidas; y 5) recibir a Jesús para compartirlo más tarde. ¡Que también invitemos a alguien el próximo domingo!
