Today is the Feast of the Holy Trinity. We celebrate the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as One God. It is a major feast of the Church, remembering that we honor our God as Three Persons in One. This is a mystery that is difficult to explain, but in the Sacred Scriptures those three persons have been revealed. And often throughout the Gospels, we encounter references to the Father, Son and Spirit. Jesus himself spoke clearly of being sent by the Father. He said He and the Father were one, and that whoever loves Him, also loves the Father. And when Jesus returned to heaven to be with his Father, then they sent the Holy Spirit to first the Apostles, and then to each of us through our Baptism, and later also in Confirmation.
The gift of love that is shared among the three persons in the Trinity is the same gift we are asked to share among ourselves. John says in the Gospel today that famous John 3:16 quote: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish.” It is a truth that we continually need to accept; it is one that is a center point of who our God is.
It does not matter to whom we pray in the Trinity; each is equally God. There are different moments in our lives when one person may appeal to us more than the other two. That is not a problem for God. So it should not be for us either. Our loving God will respond just as caringly, no matter what name we may use. Let us simply love God in return.

Hoy es la fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad. Celebramos al Padre, al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo como un solo Dios. Es una gran fiesta de la Iglesia, recordando que honramos a nuestro Dios como Tres personas en una. Este es un misterio que es difícil de explicar, pero en las Sagradas Escrituras esas tres personas han sido reveladas. Y a menudo a lo largo de los Evangelios, encontramos referencias al Padre, al Hijo y al Espíritu. Jesús mismo habló claramente de ser enviado por el Padre. Él dijo que Él y el Padre eran uno, y que quien lo ama, también ama al Padre. Y cuando Jesús regresó al cielo para estar con su Padre, enviaron el Espíritu Santo primero a los Apóstoles, y luego a cada uno de nosotros a través de nuestro Bautismo, y luego también en la Confirmación.
El regalo de amor que se comparte entre las tres personas en la Trinidad es el mismo regalo que se nos pide que compartamos entre nosotros. Juan dice en el Evangelio de hoy en la famosa cita de Juan 3:16: "Dios amó tanto al mundo que dio a su único Hijo, para que todos los que creen en él no perezcan". Es una verdad que continuamente debemos aceptar; Es uno de los puntos centrales de quién es nuestro Dios.
No importa a quién rezamos en la Trinidad; cada uno es igualmente Dios. Hay diferentes momentos en nuestras vidas cuando una persona puede atraernos más que las otras dos. Eso no es un problema para Dios. Por lo tanto, tampoco debería ser para nosotros. Nuestro Dios amoroso responderá con igual cuidado, sin importar el nombre que podamos usar. Simplemente amemos a Dios.
