Greetings from Sister Marlita /Saludos de Sister Marlita

Have you ever witnessed a flock of sheep responding

to the voice of the shepherd? I have. I was standing

with friends looking out over an empty field, not an

animal in sight. The owner of the flock, the shepherd

himself, loudly shouted out something

indistinguishable, and in seconds a flock of 20 sheep

came running over the hill to the gate where we stood,

hoping to find food. It was impressive. I could have

called all day long, “Come here, sheep,” and they

would not have come.

Jesus reminds us in the Gospel today: “I am the good

shepherd ...one who lays down his life for his sheep....

they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock,

one shepherd.” As our Shepherd, Jesus is the one

who looks after us, who seeks us out when we are lost

and have gone astray, who puts us on his shoulders if

we are injured, and brings us to good pastures to be

safe again.

We can depend on Jesus understanding all the ups and

downs of our lives. After all, he lived in our human

state for 33 years, and experienced the joys and

sorrows, the hopes and dreams, and the

disappointments, too. So listening to His voice guiding

us along in our lives as our GOOD SHEPHERD is an

important decision on our part. We make plans that

may not always materialize; God has other plans, that

God wants us to fulfill. Let’s pray that we do listen, and

then follow where the voice leads us.

¿Alguna vez has visto un rebaño de ovejas

respondiendo a la voz del pastor? Yo sí. Estaba de pie

con amigos mirando hacia un campo vacío, sin un

animal a la vista. El dueño del rebaño, el pastor mismo,

gritó en voz alta algo indistinguible, y en segundos un

rebaño de 20 ovejas llegó corriendo por la colina hasta

la puerta donde estábamos, esperando encontrar

comida. Fue impresionante. Podría haber llamado todo

el día: "Ven aquí, oveja", y no habrían venido.

Jesús nos recuerda en el Evangelio de hoy: "Yo soy el

buen pastor ... el que da su vida por sus ovejas ... ellos

oirán mi voz, y habrá un solo rebaño, un solo pastor".

Como nuestro Pastor, Jesús es quien nos cuida, quien

nos busca cuando estamos perdidos y nos hemos

descarriado, quien nos pone sobre sus hombros si nos

lastimamos, y nos lleva a buenos pastos para estar a

salvo de nuevo.

Podemos depender de que Jesús comprenda todos los

altibajos de nuestra vida. Después de todo, vivió en

nuestro estado humano durante 33 años y

experimentó las alegrías y las tristezas, las esperanzas y

los sueños, y también las decepciones. Así que

escuchar Su voz guiándonos en nuestras vidas como

nuestro BUEN PASTOR es una decisión importante de

nuestra parte. Hacemos planes que no siempre se

materializan; Dios tiene otros planes que Dios quiere

que cumplamos. Oremos para que escuchemos y luego

sigamos a donde la voz nos lleve.
