Greetings from Sister Marlita /Saludos de Sister Marlita

Many of you have possibly already read the recent encyclical of Pope Francis called: “Fratelli tutti, or may have read excerpts from it in publications from the church. The name comes from the first few words, meaning “To all the brothers and sisters…” Its message continues Pope Francis’s inspirations from St. Francis of Assisi. It deals directly with social relationships with one another. The Pope asks: “What does it mean to be a people? Who are we all together? How are we socially responsible to one another?”

We are all called to be ONE HUMAN FAMILY. That statement says a lot to all of us. We are meant to see the whole human family as our own family. That means that we are all “in the same boat,” so to speak. We are not separated by time or place or creed or culture. St. Francis after his conversion saw all of creation as ONE; there was no distinction of rich and poor, of some accepted, and others unaccepted. He witnessed to this by how he treated others. Pope Francis imitates that same attitude. He reminds us all that every man and woman has a place, and each one has a responsibility of care to one another.

I wonder how different our world would be if we put that into practice in our daily lives? If we treated others as if they were truly a part of our family, our social interactions would be so different, wouldn’t they? Why don’t we try to do just that? And let us pray for one another to be “brother and sisters” to one another in our daily interactions.

Muchos de ustedes posiblemente ya hayan leído la reciente encíclica del Papa Francisco llamado: "Fratelli tu!", o puede haber leído extractos de él en publicaciones de la Iglesia. El nombre proviene de las primeras palabras, que significa "A todos los hermanos y hermanas ... "Su mensaje con"núa la inspiración del Papa Francisco de San Francisco de Asís. Me pregunto cuán diferente sería nuestro mundo si lo pusiéramos en prác"ca en ¿nuestras vidas diarias? Si tratáramos a los demás como si realmente fueran parte de nuestro familia, nuestras interacciones sociales serían tan diferentes, ¿no es así? ¿Por qué no intentamos hacer precisamente eso? Y recemos unos por otros para ser “Hermanos y hermanas” entre nosotros en nuestras interacciones diarias.
